The Glaser Center

The Glaser Center, at 547 Mendocino Avenue (in what was once a major movieplex) is the home of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, Santa Rosa, which purchased the property in July of 2004. Following the lead of such important cultural venues as CenterStage at Osher Marin Center, in San Rafael, the Glaser Center (named for longtime members and patrons Jules and Barbara Glaser) has, over the last several years, become a major community center and destination point for Sonoma County residents and out-of-town visitors. Aimed toward supporting other non-profits, schools, and socially conscious organizations, the Glaser Center rents rooms for a variety on non-profit activities, and also offers a light-filled, adaptable Social Hall area for weddings, parties, meetings, and other community events. In the beautiful Sanctuary Theater, the UUCSR's Arts & Culture Ministry presents concerts, shows and theatrical events, plus appearances by notable speakers, dance companies, musical artists and more. Reflecting the Unitarian Universalist principles of respecting and honoring all other cultures, religions, and points-of-view, the Glaser Center's programming seeks to celebrate the multicultural diversity and creativity of our immediate community and of the world.

Centrally located in Downtown Santa Rosa, just four blocks north of Courthouse Square, the Glaser Center has been awarded the Santa Rosa Merit Award for community service and creative use of architecture. Rapidly, the Glaser is becoming known as an oasis of beauty in the midst of the downtown area, with ongoing art shows and an array of public events that coexist and occasionally meld with the spiritual life of the UUCSR.

The mission of the Glaser Center is simple: first and foremost the home of Unitarian Universalist Congregation, Santa Rosa, the Glaser Center shall also serve as a lovely and energetic space for the artistic expressions of a host of local artists. Under t
